Japanese Monument in League City - Interesting history - includes how Japanese were raided by FBI and Internments
A Japanese heritage friend sent me this
Today I went to the unveiling of a Texas historical marker in League City. I was pleasantly surprised that this occurred, given the current state of politics in Texas and the US. I knew Japanese were in this area with rice farming, but I didn't learn the whole story until this came up. I am so glad I went today, it was a lovely way to spend the Memorial Day morning.
I read the marker and it was so stirring...

The Blueridge Methodist Church, Health & Wellness Ministry will host classes on "Grief and Loss" as a tool for whole-body wellness.
Classes will be held for 8 weeks starting Memorial week:
- 1 class onsite at 2929 Reed Rd. on Tuesdays starting 5/27/25 at 11 am;
AND
- 1 class virtually at 7 pm on Wednesday evenings starting 5/28/25.
The classes are open to the community. Sign up by calling 281-785-8460 no later than 5/26/25.

We are excited to invite you to participate in the Acres Homes Juneteenth Parade, taking place on Saturday, June 21, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The parade route begins at 6719 West Montgomery Road and concludes at 1620 Dolly Wright Street.
Hosted by Ashley Turner Captain, this beloved community tradition—created in 2008 by the late Honorable Sylvester Turner—has become a signature celebration in Acres Homes, one of Houston’s historic neighborhoods and a cornerstone of the Complete Communities initiative. We anticipate welcoming more than 5,000 attendees for a day filled with pride, culture, and community connection.

Expect high energy, live commentary, giveaways, water stations, and plenty of opportunities to connect with the community.
