The Lowest Paying College Majors In The U.S.  Nice infographic (above link) from Forbes: Many times kids say money does not mean anything to them but ask them how they want to live and they will say: vaca with friends, cars, apartments, dining out, going to concerts, clothes, hair, jewelry, smartphones, entertainment/movies, etc.....hmmmmmmm...that all takes money. Of course, if they really do not want those things and prefer to just follow their passion, then ok. And oh, better salaries will help pay back those student loans.

Many college majors offer graduates excellent starting salaries with engineering degrees at the very top of the pay-scale. According to Glassdoor, the U.S. college majors with the highest average starting salaries in 2017 are Computer Science ($70,000), Electrical Engineering ($68,438) and Mechanical Engineering ($66,040). At the other end of the scale, however, quite a lot of college majors just don't pay off. Considering the extent to which college majors impact earnings, which ones should prospective students think twice about if they're after the big bucks?

If you want a major without a minor paycheck, the infographic shows 12 areas to avoid. Glassdoor found that both Criminal Justice and Kinesiology have especially low starting salaries for their graduates at $40,000. Exercise Science might keep you physically and mentally fit but it has the third-lowest median base salary of any U.S. major at $41,000. Interestingly, several science majors also appear on Glassdoor's list including Psychology ($41,500), Biology ($42,000) and Anthropology ($42,116).
