Safety Message from Efamily member Charic Daniels

All,

I checked all of our cars because the Takata airbag recall affects a lot of cars (over 34 million) made by a lot of different manufacturers (for example, Acura, BMW, Chrysler, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Subaru, Toyota).  It turns out Lionel’s car (Dodge Durango) is impacted.  He is scheduled to get the airbag replaced in June. Don’t wait to be contacted; be proactive.  It is easy to check your vehicle; you only need your VIN (probably on your insurance card). Here’s the website: https://vinrcl.safercar.gov/vin/.

Message about her husband Lionel’s car:

NHTSA Recall Number: opens new window takes away from VIN lookup section> 14V-770 Recall Date: January 23, 2015

Manufacturer Recall Number: P78

SUMMARY:

THE PASSENGER AIRBAG INFLATOR HOUSING MAY RUPTURE, DUE TO EXCESSIVE INTERNAL PRESSURE, DURING NORMAL AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT EVENTS. THIS CONDITION IS MORE LIKELY TO OCCUR IF YOUR VEHICLE HAS BEEN EXPOSED TO HIGH LEVELS OF ABSOLUTE HUMIDITY FOR EXTENDED PERIODS OF TIME.

SAFETY RISK:

EXCESSIVE INTERNAL PRESSURE, DURING AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT EVENTS, COULD RESULT IN AN INCREASED CHANCE OF OCCUPANT INJURY DURING CERTAIN CRASH CONDITIONS

REMEDY:

THE PASSENGER AIRBAG INFLATOR WILL BE REPLACED.

Be safe,

Charic

Sugar: Is the Sweet Stuff Bad for Your Body?

Are you eating too much sugar each day? Our Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Educator Jordyn Forsyth tells us in this week's blog how much sugar the average American eats per day, including some you think are healthy (wheat bread, Cheerios, orange juice). All this sugar is leading to health problems of epidemic proportions, including obesity, tooth decay, inflammation, and heart disease.
So how much sugar is too much? And how do you calculate how much you're eating each day?

Turner for Mayor Internshttp://files.ctctcdn.com/6014a119301/8939a1b4-af01-45c3-acdf-31a7e18a2bf1.jpg
We're inviting you to apply for an internship with Sylvester Turner's campaign for Mayor. The campaign is looking for bright, energetic individuals who want to learn the nuts and bolts of how a campaign works and help elect the next Mayor of America's 4th largest city. This is your chance to get involved in local politics and make a difference in your community.

Hours are completely flexible with a small requirement, and the Sylvester Turner for Mayor team is a lot of fun. No experience is necessary, and you will walk out the door at the end of the internship knowing how to run a local field program, as well as having connected with community and political leaders from across the country.

Additionally, the campaign is offering a fellowship program for applicants who are looking to take their involvement to the next level by committing more time to the campaign. Fellows will participate in our Field Organizer Training Program, where they will not only learn the basics of campaign field work, but will also gain in-depth knowledge of grassroots organizing so that they are ready to work on, and eventually run, campaigns of their own in the future.

The Sylvester Turner for Mayor internship and fellowship programs are designed to be enriching educational experiences, where participants will engage in daily field activities, learn from and have access to seasoned campaign staff, and hear from a variety of political guest speakers.

Efamily member Sylvester Turner reaches milestone 1,000 endorsements - if interested in joining Women for Turner - let me know!

Dear Donna,
I am both humbled and inspired by the support our campaign has already received as we announce our first 1,000 endorsements today. You can see the full list of endorsements here on my website.
You have joined community leaders and organizations and neighbors who want a city that works for middle class families, improves our vital infrastructure and supports strong schools for our children. Working with every one of you to make those goals a reality will be crucial if I'm elected mayor, and it's great to know I have your support this early in the race.
Even with 1,000 endorsements, we still need many more people on board to succeed in November, so please encourage your friends and family members to support our campaign by emailing this link to your contacts, and by sharing it on Facebook and Twitter.
People in my generation inherited a great city with folks who had big dreams and made big things happen. I want to pass on an even greater Houston to the next generation, and it is the continued support of people like you that will ultimately allow us to do just that. Together, we truly can make great things happen.
Thank you!
Sincerely,

Sylvester Turner
