Houston's unique Soberbowl Superfest Superbowl event public invited

Mayor set aside $2M for Roof Repair

While many of the homes to be repaired through the Blue Tarp Program were initially damaged in Hurricane Ike, any tarp-covered roof of income-qualifying homeowners will be considered. Rental properties do not qualify. For information about the program or to determine if you qualify, contact the HCDD Call Center at 832-394-6200.  (from the Mayor's website)

I received the following email from one of our efamily members, Paul Joseph.
I attended a very insightful meeting last night at the 5th Ward Multi-Service Center, attached is an application form to be completed by senior citizen home owners (all Harris County residents) in order to be considered for roof repairs. This is a very simple 4 page application form, seniors can call Houston Housing and Community Development Department for assistance and questions. Roof repairs can range from $10,000 - $25,000 based on inspections by COH contractors. The project will last until the funds run out; I understand the COH just received an additional $2 million, so hurry! PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD!

He sent me the form which he said is easy to fill out (if you need the form contact the city at 311) or email Paul B. Joseph, PhD  ThD <joalcompany@gmail.com> or me.

BBQ Cook-Off: How It Works?
It's all about the 'cue! Purchase tickets for entrance into NRG Park for the World's Championship Bar-B-Que Contest, (Thursday, March 2-Saturday, March 4) which kicks off the arrival of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™ each year. Tickets include a complimentary sliced barbecue beef sandwich plate, access to live music areas and admission to the carnival. Tickets do not include access to private cook-off tents. Tent passes are not for sale and are distributed by the Bar-B-Que teams.

For more information or to plan your trip to the cook-off, please click here.

Admission Ticket vs. Concert Ticket vs. Season Pass
Every time you visit the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™, you will need to have an entry ticket. There are three different types of admission.

NRG Park Admission: One-day admission to the Park including access to the livestock show, shopping & exhibits in NRG Center. You can also access to horse show & events in NRG Arena and the Carnival (You will still need tickets for the rides and games). NRG Park Admission does NOT INCLUDE Rodeo & concert in NRG Stadium.

Concert Ticket: A ticket for any of the 20 concerts gives you access to everything mentioned above (NRG Park Admission) AND does include the Rodeo and concert in NRG Stadium.

Season Pass: The Season Pass is very similar to the NRG Park Admission. It is UNLIMITED admission to the World's Championship Bar-B-Que Contest (March 2-4), daily admission to Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™ (March 7 - 26) and access to all public activities at NRG Park, NRG Center & NRG Arena. it does NOT INCLUDE the Rodeo & concert in NRG Stadium or Rodeo Uncorked! events.

If you plan on attending the carnival, livestock show or plan to come eat more than twice, then the Season Pass is well worth it and will save you money.

For more information on these options, please click here.
