During the meeting, a consensus plan was presented, which showed how the Master Plan Update factors in community input received since public engagement began in June 2021. Houston Parks Board and our partners are taking community input on the consensus plan until Monday, November 1, 2021. To comment, please first watch the October 13 community meeting recording and/or view the PDF of the presentation here. After reviewing, please send comments, questions, or concerns to info@houstonparksboard.org. After November 1, a final report will be created detailing the consensus Master Plan. Funding for the proposed updates is to be determined, and Houston Parks Board is working diligently on a funding plan and will keep you updated as progress is made. NASA's High School Aerospace Scholars is an authentic learning experience for Texas high school juniors to engage with NASA's mission and become the next generation of explorers. Like-minded students complete an online curriculum in exploration and discovery. The highest achieving students receive an invitation to a five-day gamified summer experience mentored by NASA scientists and engineers. Students work in teams to plan an Artemis-themed mission to the Moon and Mars. Top teams are invited to a two-day residential experience at NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX.  The online and summer experience portions are free to participants. CitizensNet: Free COVID-19 vaccinations available at more than a dozen Houston Health Department-affiliated sites week of October 11, 2021 | 10-11-2021

HOUSTON - The Houston Health Department is announcing the schedule for sites offering free doses of COVID-19 vaccine during the week of October 11, 2021. More than a dozen health department-affiliated free vaccination sites are on the schedule for the week.

The sites welcome walk-ins and appointment information is available at HoustonEmerency.org/covid19 or by calling 832-393-4220.

Vaccination does not require proof of residency, citizenship, or insurance.

Pop-up Sites

The department and its partner agencies will offer Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson vaccinations at pop-up sites during the week, located at:

Free in-home COVID-19 vaccination is available to qualifying older adults, people with disabilities, and veterans.

People may call 832-393-4301 to about qualify for the program. 

Testing Sites
The department and its partner agencies offer free COVID-19 testing sites across the city.

A list of testing sites is available at HoustonEmergency.org/covid19 or by calling 832-393-4220.

The CDC recommends people who have symptoms and most people who had close contact (within 6 feet for a total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period) with someone with confirmed COVID-19 be tested for COVID-19 infection.
