Transition of Clara Meek - Prayers to the family...

Good morning,
Dear Women for Turner:
It is with great regret that I inform you that Ms. Clara Loraine Meek passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2017, surrounded by friends and family. She was the founder of Women for Turner, and worked tirelessly on all three of Mayor Sylvester Turner's mayoral campaigns.
Clara courageously battled lupus for many years, eventually becoming disabled in the midst of her successful tenure as a partner at Vinson & Elkins.
If you knew Clara, you know that she was a giant of a woman in every way. She poured herself into countless meaningful projects and undertakings, all of which had substantial purpose.
A generous person, from regularly sending baskets of fruit to her designated fire station for the workers who frequently helped her and her sister during various health crises, to having her nephew purchase stacks of blankets and boxes of Frenchy's chicken and drive around downtown Houston to provide to the homeless on cold nights, her heart was larger than the state of Texas.
Clara touched the lives of many, and deeply loved her family. She loved her friends and cherished those relationships, and most of all, she both sought and offered the very best of mankind. In years past, she enjoyed worshipping at Loyal Missionary Baptist Church with her sisters.
Per Clara's wish to forego a funeral or formal memorial service, her family will adhere to her request to return her remains to her birthplace, Marshall, Texas at some point in the near future.
