BBQ Cook Off: How it Works?

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo World Championship BBQ Cook-Off takes place Thursday, February 26-Saturday, February 28. Over 200 teams will be competing in the competition. But how do you get to be a part of it?

While most team tents are invitation-only, visitors can enjoy the public venues including the Miller Lite Garden, Rockin' Bar-B-Que Saloon and the Chuck Wagon, where you receive a complimentary chopped beef sandwich plate.

Discount Food Card

The Discount Food Card allows you to enjoy $30 worth of midway refreshments for only $20. It can be used at the  RCS midway food and beverage stands only and is not valid at food and beverage stands operated by ARAMARK or Show commercial exhibitors.

NOTE: You can not use this in conjunction with the food coupons in the $50 and $10 carnival packs.  


Admission Ticket vs. Concert Ticket vs. Season Pass

Every time you visit the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, you have to have an entry ticket. There are three different types of admission.

Admission Ticket: One-day admission to the Rodeo. You can access everything (petting zoo, carnival and exhibits) EXCEPT the performance inside of NRG Stadium.

Concert Ticket: Gives you everything above AND admission to the concert and livestock show, for that date, inside NRG Stadium.

Season Pass: Very similar to the admission ticket. However, it is unlimited admission to everything EXCEPT the concert and livestock show inside of NRG Stadium. If you plan on attending more than twice, then this is well worth it and will save you some money.
