SEE YOU THERE! Join me!

Dear Friends,

I am a Family Recruitment Coordinator with The Way Home Adoption. . Our mission is to find permanent homes for children ages 11 to 17 years old who are in foster care. We are having our annual fundraiser and I would like to ask you to please share the following email with friends:

We pulled it off - at least the planning anyway. The H-Town Dine Around is ON. We are thrilled with the participating restaurants, and the event space. This could be our best event yet.

With our new programs this year, the Hearts Who Need Homes gallery and the monthly Enrichment Events for teens in foster care and for the adults who are interested in adopting them, you will learn something new, not to mention have 8 restaurants from which to eat + free beer and wine (all at the low low cost of $50/person)! VIP tickets ($75) include one of our personalized wine tumblers and access to the upstairs balcony/seating area.

The Way Home would not be here today without community support and the same goes for this event. We can't do it without your support and involvement.

There is an event page on facebook and we will continue to blast it out on social media and via email reminders. Please email and talk to your friends, family, colleagues, neighbors, nail salons, dog walkers, etc. and invite/encourage them to come too. We want to have the largest audience of any of our events yet.

The invitation is attached for you to email to your networks. Let us know if you have any questions. AND THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Special Request: Seeking Advice regarding College Financial Aid

One of the members of our efamily has taken in a young lady abandoned by her parents. The young lady is a senior in high school and is being cared for by a good Samaritan who is trying to enroll her in college (she is working with her to get her SAT prep, applications, etc.). I told her that I think this young lady should be able to be declared an independant for financial aid reasons. This is an amazing outpouring of love, as this efamily member has a child in college now and a 2 other young children at home plus she has a Senior of her own headed to college as well this year! If anyone is familiar with this process and can assist with ideas and suggestions, please email me at donna.blackshear.reynolds@gmail.com

THE BURIAL OF KOJO

THE BURIAL OF KOJO TICKETS
Through a magical realist lens, THE BURIAL OF KOJO follows the story of Esi, as she recounts her childhood and the tumultuous relationship between her father, Kojo and her uncle, Kwabena. Directed by TED fellow, music composer and musician Samuel “Blitz” Bazawule, the film chronicles the tale of two brothers through the gifted eyes of a young girl who transports the audience to the beautiful lands of Ghana and other worlds that exist between life and death.
Born from a newspaper article and a Kickstarter campaign, Bazawule skillfully captures the beauty of a family, even when the circumstances aren't beautiful. THE BURIAL OF KOJO is an essential human story of courage and survival. THE BURIAL OF KOJO is a 2019 Pan African Film Festival (PAFF) Official Selection and 2018 Urbanworld Film Festival Best Narrative Feature Winner,

Vote for Miss Teen USA - Efamily Member Noreen Khan "the Tox Doc" Mayberry's daughter

FROM NOREEN
Dear Family & Friends!

I never had plans to put Nicole in a pageant, but when I tell you the Miss USA system has not only pleasantly surprised me, it has shattered every modern stereotype that I have seen with pageants in the media. Nicole is specifically competing for the title of Miss Teen Houston USA. This is the official Miss USA pageant system that culminates in the Miss Universe pageant.

Nicole and all of the contestants have learned so much about themselves, support, self esteem, and self belief. I personally recommend this experience. It’s well beyond surface beauty. The pageant is April 19-20th; coming up very soon and I am here asking for your help. Nicole has a People’s Choice competition where anyone in the world can vote! Please read the instructions below carefully so that your vote will count! And so many of you have a circle of influence that you can share this email with! Fun Ninfa's Volunteer Opportunity to raise funds for scholarships

Donna,

I hope that all is well with you and your family! Please share this information with your mailing list.

I’m the Chair of Volunteers for the Tacos Over Texas fundraising event. The event will take place on Sunday April 7th from 1-4pm at the Original Ninfa’s on Navigation

Volunteers are being asked to work in 3 hour shifts. I need volunteers both in the morning of the event to help with setup and during the event.

Volunteers get to taste ALL of the tacos in the competition, one t-shirt and two margaritas (if 21 years or older). Teens are welcome! The community service will look great on their college applications!

When Ninfa Laurenzo died, her daughter Phyllis Mandola established a foundation to offer scholarships. This event is a fundraiser for the foundation. The event is a taco competition featuring various Houston chefs. There will be a silent and live auction + a loteria (Mexican Bingo) with awesome prizes! Please let me know ASAP if you would like to volunteer. If you would like to attend, but not volunteer, you can purchase tickets for $40 at the door or online at http:/bit.ly/2fFBequ. To get scholarship information, go to www.tacosovertexas.info. I promised Phyllis I would get 30 volunteers. Please help me reach that goal. Thanks!!
