- Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura
"Thrombotic" (throm-BOT-ik) refers to the blood clots that form. "Thrombocytopenic" (throm-bo-cy-toe-PEE-nick) means the blood has a lower than normal number of platelets.
(TTP) a rare disorder. It can be fatal or cause lasting damage, such as brain damage or a stroke, if it's not treated right away.
BLOOD WAS NEEDED TO SAVE MY LIFE
Treatments for TTP include infusions of fresh frozen plasma and plasma exchange, also called plasmapheresis (PLAZ-ma-feh-RE-sis).
The clots can limit or block the flow of oxygen-rich blood to the body's organs, such as the brain, kidneys, and heart. As a result, serious health problems can develop.
The increased clotting that occurs in TTP also uses up platelets (PLATE-lets) in the blood. Platelets are blood cell fragments that help form blood clots. These cell fragments stick together to seal small cuts and breaks on blood vessel walls and stop bleeding.
You may hear your doctor or some people refer to it as TTP. This is a general term. The 2 main types of TTP are inherited and acquired; however, 95% of all TTP cases are acquired.

Information Technology Senior Management Forum(ITSMF) has a unique educational opportunity targeting Historically Black College and Universities. The EMERGE College Mentorship was designed to be resource for these institutions in the attracting, engaging, and retaining more minority women in STEM.
The program is open to female college students in their sophomore or junior years with a STEM-related major who are interested in pursuing a technology career. Students must have a G.P.A of 2.5 or higher.
SCHOLARSHIPS AND INTERNSHIPS: Students are awarded annually as gap funding and as a stipend. We also promote internship opportunities with our partner companies.
