Hearing on New HEB at 288 and MacGregor

PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE

The City of Houston's Housing and Community Development Department (HCDD) is hosting a public hearing on September 7, 2016 to engage the community and discuss the acquisition of land located at the corner of Highway 288 and MacGregor in City Council District D for the development of an HEB grocery store. This hearing is part of HUD's eight-step environmental process for a potential development in a flood plain. This area is considered a food desert: an urban area, in which it is difficult to buy affordable or good-quality fresh food.

HEB proposes to develop a 72,000-square-foot grocery store. The construction costs of $20 million will be funded by HEB and its investors.

PUBLIC HEARING

Wednesday, September 7, 2016

6-8 p.m.

Judson Robinson, Jr. Community Center, 2020 Hermann Drive, Houston, TX 77004

ADA Accessible

For additional information about the public hearing or to request special arrangements (interpreter, sign language, CART for the hearing impaired), contact Paula Jackson at paula.jackson@houstontx.gov or 832.394.6181.

The 30-day comment period for this proposed project extends until Sunday, September 11, 2016. Written comments can be submitted by mail to Peggy Colligan at HCDD, 601 Sawyer Street, Suite 400, Houston, TX 77007 or by email to margaret.colligan@houstontx.gov.
