Dear Friend and Community Leader:

This year is the 50th anniversary of the 1965 Voting Rights Act which prohibits racial discrimination in voting and was signed into law by fellow Texan President Lyndon B. Johnson. This law is as significant today as it was in 1965 and that is why I am inviting you to participate in a series of events we will be holding to commemorate this historic legislation.

The press conference and re-enactment will be held at 10:00 am at the Mickey Leland Federal Office Building located 1919 Smith Street, Houston, TX 77002. Voter registration will begin at 12:00 noon at the following sites, unless noted.
