Tell Them We Are Rising: The Story of Black Colleges and Universities will air nationally on the acclaimed PBS series, Independent Lens, on Monday, February 19, 2018. This first-of-its kind 90-minute documentary examines the impact Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) have had on American history, culture and national identity. The film is directed by award-winning documentary filmmaker Stanley Nelson. In this film, Nelson reveals the rich history of HBCUs and the power of higher education to transform lives and advance civil rights and equality in the face of injustice.
