In memory of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr and this day of service, please spread the word that Early Voting in Virginia for Dem presidential primary election nominee starts this Friday, January 19, 2024, for the March 5, 2024, presidential primary election. Joseph R. Biden Jr. (aka Joe Biden) is on the Democrat ballot for the Dem Party nominee for president. We Virginia election officers (poll workers) are being assigned now. Maryland's presidential primary election is May 14, 2024. Washington, D.C.'s Dem presidential primary election is June 4, 2024.
Early Voting Office Locations
Early voting for the Super Tuesday March 5, 2024, presidential primary elections begins THIS FRIDAY January 19. The last day to vote early is March 2.
All general registrar offices offer early voting. Some localities may offer early voting in additional locations.
If you received an absentee ballot in the mail, you MUST bring it with you and surrender it to vote in person!
Curbside voting is available for those who are 65-years-old or older, or any person, with a physical disability.
Virginia is an open primary state meaning that voters do not register by political party. Any registered voter is eligible to vote in any primary election. If both the Democratic and Republican parties hold primaries on the same day, voters must choose which party ballot they wish to vote.
There is NO EXCUSE NOT to vote, Virginians!
On one single day — March 5, Super Tuesday — 16 states or territories will vote and, by the end of March, two-thirds of states and territories will have voted for who they think should be the next nominee for each party.

First day of In-Person Early Voting: January 19, 2024
Last day to register to vote or update existing registration: February 12, 2024
Last day to apply for a mail ballot: 5pm, February 23, 2024

The NASA Minority University Research and Education Project (MUREP) Innovation and Tech Transfer Idea Competition (MITTIC) is accepting proposals for the Spring 2024 competition until March 13, 2024!
Spread the word to encourage student teams from Minority Serving Institutions around the country to take on the challenge of changing the world with NASA technology by proposing their own start-up businesses. CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
Application Deadline – February 9, 2024, 5 p.m.
The Department of Neighborhoods (DON) invites aspiring leaders to apply for enrollment in the Complete Communities University (CCU) Spring 2024 leadership training course. The 8-week course is designed for emerging leaders committed to making a positive impact in their communities.
The course will run March 13 to May 1, 2024, with classes to be held virtually and in person on Wednesdays from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. Virtual classes will be conducted via Microsoft Teams, and in-person classes will be held at the City Hall Annex, 900 Bagby Street.
The CCU curriculum focuses on strategies for promoting civic engagement to empower residents and revitalize neighborhoods. The course explores methods and techniques for engaging residents in civic activities, volunteer service, and government affairs as constituents and voters. Topics of discussion include how city and county governments function and relate to neighborhoods and how to effectively access City services and community resources. The classes are led by DON staff with extensive knowledge of Houston communities and feature presentations by City department and community-based subject experts.
CCU participants will be selected through a competitive application review process. Selection criteria will include commitment to promoting civic engagement, leadership skills, experience, and potential. Diversity and representation of all City Council districts will also be considered.
