Meet Walter Hood, the creative visionary behind Hood Design Studio. Under the direction of Walter, Hood Design Studio will lead the historic transformation of MacGregor Park. He brings a wealth of experience in culturally significant projects and a deep understanding of working closely with communities. A distinguished landscape designer and recipient of the prestigious MacArthur Fellowship in 2019, Walter is the founder and creative director of Hood Design Studio in Oakland, California. He also chairs the landscape architecture and environmental planning department at the University of California, Berkeley. His impressive portfolio includes notable projects such as Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing Park in Jacksonville, Florida; the de Young Museum Gardens in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park; and conceptual gardens for the International African American Museum in Charleston, South Carolina.
