BCT - Boston area College Tour
BCT provides free STEM-focused tours for talented high school students, preferably rising 10th & 11th graders, that help students determine fit with universities like MIT, Northeastern, Boston University, and Harvard. Guided tours will take place on Friday, July 10, 2026 while self-guided tours are recommended for Saturday, July 11, 2026.
Since February 24, 2026, BCT has been a charitable program sponsored by United Charitable a 501(c)(3), 509(a)(1) charity (EIN 20-4286082). All donations to this program are tax deductible and can be made payable to Boston area College Tour. By 2027, BCT plans to source students from overnight trip markets as far away as Los Angeles and increase the number of high school students served from 25 to 100 per year.
BCT 2026 will coincide with the 13th annual Boston JerkFest food and music festival at the Harvard University athletic fields adjacent to Harvard Business School and Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. Last year’s inaugural BCT had 45 students, parents, and guardians traveling mostly from NYC area. Please view the experience description, pictures, as well as video at the end of this blog.
The tours are free but have limited capacity and require online pre-registration. The rising 10th or 11th grade student should have a grade point average (GPA) 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale. MIT Tour, Friday July 10, 2026, 9am-12:15pm

MIT’s mission is to advance knowledge and educate students in science, technology, and other areas of scholarship that will best serve the nation and the world in the 21st century.
The MIT tour for high school students and their parents features a 30-minute information session followed by a 1-hour campus tour. For the remaining 90 minutes, high school students are engaged in a hands-on activity such as at the Maker Lodge or Edgerton Center. Meanwhile, parents leisurely tour the MIT Museum with waived admission fees.
From 12:30pm to 1:15pm there will be an optional lunch & talk opportunity for tour participants to informally mingle with and ask questions of MIT alumni and current students. Tour participants can purchase bag lunches from nearby recommended restaurants and then gather at the outdoor area adjacent to the MIT Welcome Center for the lunch & talk.

Northeastern University Tour, Friday July 10, 2026, 9am-10:30am

Northeastern University is the intersection of rigorous academics and experiential learning. Through our signature co-op program and our global network of campuses, Northeastern sets students apart by preparing them to take on the real-world from day one.
Our program features a 30-minute information session led by an admissions counselor and of our student ambassadors, followed by an hour-long tour that will feature several of our STEM facilities, such as our Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Complex (ISEC) and EXP, our premiere science and technology research facility with 15,000 square feet robotics maker space and a multitude of areas for dedicated STEM research.

Boston University Tour, Friday July 10, 2026, 12:30pm-1:30pm
College of Engineering, 44 Cummington Mall, Room 107, Boston, MA 02215. Metered street parking is available nearby and for parking garage options, check Granby Lot (665 Commonwealth Ave), and Kenmore Lot (549 Commonwealth Ave).
The tour solely focuses on the College of Engineering with programs in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, and Materials Science & Engineering. Ranked #27 in Best Engineering Schools by U.S. News and World Report. Consider signing up for the more expansive tour offered by BU Admissions to learn more about BU’s other colleges including its largest the College of Arts & Sciences, with more than 20 departments. CAS is where you’ll find undergraduate programs in the humanities, natural and computational sciences, and social sciences.

Harvard College Tour, Friday July 10, 2026, 2pm-4pm
Harvard College Admissions Visitor Center at 5 James Street, Cambridge, MA 02138, in the Elizabeth Cary Agassiz House.
Harvard College’s mission is to educate the citizens and citizen-leaders for our society. We do this through our commitment to the transformative power of a liberal arts and sciences education.
For the 45-minute information session, an admissions staff member will be joined by two students concentrating in STEM disciplines at Harvard College. They will cover STEM-specific information on Harvard’s resources, including Harvard's School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, and the information session will close with a walk through admissions and financial aid.
The 1-hour campus tour will lead from the Radcliffe Institute to locations in Harvard Yard, and from there to the Science Center Plaza (1 Oxford Street, Cambridge), where guides will speak on specific information on the academic experience and resources available according to their program and the interests of the group.
