Celebrating Cultures Event supporting Scouting in Underserved Communities - Lionel Jellins

I am chairing an event to raise money to allow expansion of Scouting into underserved and emerging communities.  This includes over 7000 Scouts participating in our ScoutReach in school and community center program.

Please find the link to the Celebrating Cultures Facebook event page here.

A save the date flyer is attached below.

As an example of how your contribution helped, let me tell you of about a campout Camp held for 100 local Scouts at our Bovay Scout Camp in Hempstead, Texas this last July.  At that campout, our staff of volunteers and professionals from the Scout Office organized a campout for  over 100 local Scouts that take part in our ScoutReach program.  This program is designed to reach boys in traditionally underserved and emerging communities.

The boys cooked, chopped wood, sang, put up and stayed in their own tents, washed dishes, tied knots, hiked, celebrated, and thoroughly enjoyed themselves, AND they all received their Scout Rank Award, and completed most of their Tenderfoot Rank award.  This is quite an achievement for boys that have not typically had the opportunity to live in wilderness, and learn from the challenges that that brings.    Here is my favorite Picture from that event.

It costs a lot of money to support programs like this here in Houston.  Your help is a big part of our ability to make a difference in these boys lives through our Scouting.

If I can answer any questions about Scouting, please don’t hesitate to call.
