Walk-Up Weekdays in September and Advanced Time Passes for December

On Wednesday, September 5, at 9:00 a.m. Eastern, we are opening our advance timed entry pass system for people who want to reserve passes for December 2018. Timed passes are released online the first Wednesday of each month.
The webpage to reserve timed passes can be accessed at nmaahc.si.edu/passes. Available dates will appear in bold. Passes can also be reserved that day by calling (844) 750-3012.
Following are additional options for obtaining passes except during the month of September 2018 because of the Walk-Up Weekdays pilot program (please see below):
Online Same-Day Timed Passes: A limited number of timed passes are available each weekday on the Museum’s website, nmaahc.si.edu/sameday. Passes are distributed starting at 6:30 a.m. to allow visitors to plan their day.
Walk-Up Passes: A limited number of walk-up passes are available starting at 1 p.m. Monday through Friday. No walk-up passes will be available on weekends due to extremely high visitation.
Passes are required for entrance into the Museum, except for during Walk-Up Weekdays in the month of September 2018. They may be printed or displayed on a smartphone. There is no limit on the amount of time visitors may spend inside the Museum.

Walk Up Weekdays

The National Museum of African American History and Culture is announcing Walk-Up Weekdays for the entire month of September 2018.
Individuals who walk up without timed entry passes may enter the Museum on a first come, first served basis every Monday through Friday in September. The Museum is launching Walk-Up Weekdays in September as part of a pilot to test no-pass entry. The goal is to provide greater access for the public while maintaining the safety and security of our visitors.
We want to make sure you were aware that weekdays in September will be particularly busy. The following information will help you plan your visit:
Anticipate waiting in line: Visitors may find long lines outside the Museum and inside the galleries, Sweet Home Café, and Museum Shop if the building is at or nearing capacity.
Walk-up entry is not guaranteed: Entry to the Museum is always subject to building capacity. We hope to grant entry to most visitors who visit on weekdays in September.
Same-day online and walk-up timed entry passes will not be available weekdays in September.
For more information on timed passes and Walk-Up Weekdays in September, visit NMAAHC's Walk-Up Weekdays in September webpage. If you have additional questions not addressed on that webpage, please contact NMAAHC Visitor Services.
Thank you for your patience as we test new programs to evolve as a new museum. We truly appreciate your support!
