Gifted and Talented STEM Program for High School Applies To
The National Security Agency's (NSA) Gifted and Talented Program is open only to high school seniors. The program is designed for students who have demonstrated an aptitude for engineering, math and science. Students work full-time for 10 to 12 weeks during the summer following their senior year of high school.

High School Work Study Program (NSA Headquarters) Applies To
Whether you're gifted in business, printing/graphic arts or computers, NSA provides on-the-job training specific to your skill set. Spend your senior year of high school gaining valuable work experience while earning a salary. The programs require no less than 20 hours a week and no more than 32 hours during the school year.

Stokes Educational Scholarship Program (NSA) Applies To
The Stokes Educational Scholarship Program is open to high school seniors, particularly minority students who are planning to major in computer science or computer/electrical engineering. You will attend college full-time, receive up to $30,000 per year for tuition and mandatory fees, and work during the summers at NSA in areas that are related to your course of study.

CAE-Cyber Operations Summer Intern Program Applies To
This internship is NSA’s premier outreach program for students enrolled in the Cyber Operations specialization at NSA-designated universities. You will gain knowledge of specific cyber-related topics and apply that knowledge to address various real-world mission-related technical challenges. You will work on a broad range of problems involving applications of computer science and engineering.

Computer Science Intern Program (CSIP) Applies To
As a CSIP intern, you will apply your computer science skills to NSA hardware and software systems. Interns are assigned to projects that contribute to NSA's mission and culminate in a short presentation and technical paper.

Director’s Summer Program (DSP)

In this highly competitive program, undergraduate students will solve problems in mathematics, cryptology and communications technology in support of national security. These problems often involve applications of abstract algebra, geometry, number theory, analysis, probability, statistics, combinatorics, graph theory, algorithms and computer science. State-of-the-art computing resources are available to all students, who will be mentored by agency experts, collaborate to solve challenging problems, and present their work in both technical talks and papers, to be published internally at NSA.

Signals Intelligence Collection Program (SICP) Applies To
Computer competence is required, but students who are majoring in social sciences are also welcome to apply for this internship, where they will apply computer, technical, analytic, communication, problem solving and/or critical thinking skills to NSA’s signals intelligence (SIGINT) mission. You will devise strategies, find solutions to complex challenges, design and write computer programs; test hardware and software; build and secure websites; analyze and display data; discern the best methods of collection; develop accesses; analyze and conclude results, and/or develop processing techniques that satisfy foreign intelligence requirements.

Cyber Summer Program (CSP) Applies To
The Cyber Summer Program (CSP) is NSA’s premier program for the best undergraduate and graduate computer science, engineering, mathematics, network security and information assurance students in the country. You will work on a broad range of problems of your own choosing, involving applications of computer science and engineering. You will learn and develop data analysis, network analysis and exploitation techniques and apply that knowledge to obtain real-time solutions for mission-critical cyber-related problems.

Data Center Management Intern Program Applies To
Interns will gain experience through a hands-on approach to managing a data center. From deployments of new systems and their associated mechanical, electrical, and IT requirements, you will gain valuable knowledge and insight for a growing demand in the data center marketplace. Past intern projects have focused on how to better manage aspects of a data center, how to optimize data center efficiency and more.

Human Resources (HR) Intern Program Applies To
Undergraduates majoring in Human Resources (HR) or an alternative major with a minor or concentration in HR may apply for this program. You will gain practical experience working in one of these specialty areas: total compensation, HR strategies, recruitment and staffing, benefits and employee services, HR information systems or global HR service delivery.

Installation & Logistics (I&L) Summer Intern Program Applies To
This program is intended for students interested in project management and electrical, power, mechanical or civil engineering fields, and supply chain and business management operations. You will be directly involved with selected NSA facilities’ construction/renovation projects from planning and design through construction, commissioning, activation and occupancy. Working with mentors, you will also be involved in ensuring that projects run according to schedule, are cost effective and meet customer objectives. The internship will culminate in a final presentation to NSA senior leadership.

Health Promotion & Wellness (HPW) Intern Program Applies To
This internship is open to select college undergraduate or master’s level students who are majoring in the field of health promotion and wellness, health education or related fields. You will gain practical health promotion experience within NSA’s Office of Occupational Health, Environmental and Safety Services (OHESS).

Security & Counterintelligence Summer Intern Program (SCSIP) Applies To
Interns will actively participate in or support ongoing security and counterintelligence (S&CI) mission activities in areas such as personnel security investigations, security clearance adjudications, physical security and access control, antiterrorism/force protection, and/or counterintelligence programs. You will work directly under the guidance of veteran security professionals responsible for protecting NSA personnel, facilities and operations worldwide and, in the process, gain an understanding of how the S&CI Directorate supports and interacts with the larger NSA/CSS enterprise and counterpart organizations across the Intelligence Community and Department of Defense.

Summer Intern Program for Science and Technology (SIP/ST) Applies To
This program is open to college juniors who are concentrating their studies in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, network engineering, software engineering or telecommunications. You will work with leading computer scientists and engineers on the nation’s toughest cyber problems while enhancing your skills in assignments related to your major. You will work closely with a project mentor on a specific, mission-focused problem while learning in an exciting, high-tech environment.

Summer Strategic Communications Intern Program (SSCIP) Applies To
This program is designed for students enrolled in one or more of the following areas of study: writing, editing, journalism, public relations, marketing or advertising; visual arts, television production, motion picture production, or 3-D animation; graphics or photography. You will support the Strategic Communications organization's role to provide accurate and timely information on NSA’s missions and accomplishments to a variety of audiences using state-of-the-art messaging products in one of the following areas: corporate communications, messaging and public affairs; multimedia production or creative imaging.

Summer Language Program Applies To
Interns will learn to analyze foreign communications for vital intelligence missions by apprenticing with experienced language analysts. Geopolitical, cultural and technical knowledge may be used to understand both overtly stated meaning and subtly implied intent as you scan, translate and transcribe foreign communications, then report critical information to U.S. government customers. Foreign language proficiency combined with a wide array of majors will be considered. The 2019 Summer Language Program is hiring students with proficiency in Arabic, Chinese, Farsi, Korean, Russian and Turkish. Languages may change from year to year based on the agency's needs.

Summer Intern Program for Information Assurance (SIPIA) Applies To
Interns will be involved in projects that enable the cyber mission force through current analysis, expertise, training and tools. You will be involved in information assurance (IA) projects, including protecting and defending the nation's information systems networks, and outmaneuvering cyber adversaries.

Co-op students will operate under a rotational program, alternating semesters of full-time work with full-time study from entry into the program until graduation. We require a minimum of 52 weeks of co-op work experience prior to graduation. During your work tour, you will work a regular 40-hour week. Each work tour is designed to reveal the specific areas you may want to focus on as a career.

Graduate Mathematics Program (GMP) Applies To
Mathematics and statistics graduate students will work directly with NSA mathematicians and statisticians on mission-critical problems involving math, statistics, data analysis, cryptology and communications technology. You will document your work in technical papers, which will be published internally at NSA. Students will have access to state-of-the-art computing resources and computational software packages such as Mathematica, MATLAB, Magma, MAPLE and S-PLUS.

Industrial and Organizational Psychology Intern Program Applies To
As an intern working in the HR Strategy and Program Design unit at NSA, you will learn how to apply scientific and quantitative methods to address a wide range of human capital issues. Graduate students enrolled in a program in I/O psychology or a related field will gain valuable applied experience by working alongside psychologists in areas of personnel assessment (i.e., research and development work to support assessments used to select applicants for mission critical positions); organizational design and development; human capital systems design and consulting; occupational/job analysis; organizational assessments and workforce surveys; and program evaluation.

Summer Program for Operations Research Technology (SPORT) Applies To
Interns will work side-by-side with analysts in NSA’s Enterprise Operations Research Division to apply state-of-the-art scientific and quantitative methods, which employ applied mathematics and data science techniques, to develop innovative solutions to current agency, operational “hard” problems and unconventional problems exclusive to the Intelligence Community.

The National Physical Science Consortium (NPSC) Applies To
The National Physical Science Consortium (NPSC) is an organization of leading universities, national laboratories and corporations that aims to increase the number of qualified U.S. citizen Ph.D.s in the physical sciences and related engineering fields. It emphasizes recruitment of a diverse applicant pool of women and historically underrepresented minorities.

NPSC offers a unique six-year doctoral fellowship program in astronomy, chemistry, computer science, geology, materials sciences, mathematical sciences, physics and their subdisciplines. Intelligence Analysis Summer Internship Program Applies To
This program offers training in a multifaceted cryptologic discipline. You will apply logic, analysis, creativity, judgment and systematic approaches to gather, evaluate and use information/intelligence alongside experienced intelligence analysts who will supervise and mentor you. You will use advanced analytic tools and techniques and conduct research. Projects are in direct support of NSA’s effort to provide a complete Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) picture to U.S. policymakers, military commanders, and other members of the Intelligence Community.

Academic Semester Internship Program Applies To
Academic Semester interns are appointed for one semester, from August to December. Students are employed as part-time temporary employees (working a maximum of 29 hours per week). Eligibility requirements are the same, regardless of pay status. All interns must be granted a security clearance and must successfully pass a drug screening test prior to being made a final offer. Academic Semester interns are only compensated for time worked.

National Security Education Program Applies To
Congress established The National Security Education Program (NSEP) through the David L. Boren National Security Act of 1991. This program seeks to bring a broader and more qualified pool of U.S. citizens with foreign language and international exposure to work in national security programs. NSEP is a scholarship program that promotes language skills, cultural awareness and understanding of national security issues. In collaboration with the National Security Education Program Office, DIA has established a one-year, full-time internship program designed to provide a select number of recent college graduates the opportunity to apply their knowledge and gain practical work experience.

Louis Stokes Educational Scholarship Program (DIA) Applies To
This highly competitive program targets high-achieving, committed secondary school seniors and college freshmen and sophomores interested in a career in public service. The program offers scholarship awardees tuition assistance to accredited colleges and universities, challenging summer work and a guaranteed position in their field of study upon graduation. Students will attend classes full-time during the academic year and work at DIA during the summer in positions related to their course of study. While in school, students must maintain an overall cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent) for each semester/quarter.
