Prairie View A&M University - The Texas Juvenile
Crime Prevention Center at Prairie View A&M University is sponsoring the
inaugural series of The Darden-Caldwell LeadHERship Series for Girls: 2021
Summer Camp named in honor of its alum, Ms. Phyllis Darden-Caldwell. This one-day virtual conference is solely
dedicated to girls in grades 9th – 12th and their parents or guardians. A cadre of dynamic, diverse, competent,
exciting, passionate, and engaging speakers will talk and generate audience
interaction on Leadership, Academics, Social Justice, Health & Wellness,
and Advocacy.
This series includes concurrent breakout sessions
specifically designed for our student attendees, parent/guardian attendees, and
joint sessions for both.
The Series begins promptly on Saturday, August 7th, at 9:30
am and ends at 3:00 pm. We want the girls
attending this series to leave believing their lives are filled with
possibilities and understand that success is about overcoming obstacles,
setting and achieving goals as well as accepting seemingly insurmountable
challenges. And for our parents or guardians;
we want them to be empowered with knowledge and resources to effectively engage
in their daughters’ epic journey of life.
Please help us recruit 9th – 12th-grade girls and their
parents/guardians to this phenomenal event.
Students must attend with either a parent or guardian, complete the
attached application, and return to us as indicated no later than July 26,
2021. Disseminating the flyer and
application to students and parents/guardians who you know will be committed to
attend is appreciated.
