After a harrowing near death experience, Janice Weaver held her first blood drive. Janice quotes “I thought that it was the right thing to do and pay it forward. Here we are almost 10 years later.
Being diagnosed with a rare blood disease in 2013, spending nineteen days in isolation, several months in the hospital and received several hundred units of plasma to help save my life.
The experience fuels my passion for giving back to people who might find themselves in need of blood transfusions, she said. Through her nonprofit, One Body Networking, she organizes annual blood drives with community partners.

To date, OBN blood drives have saved more than 1,603 lives.
