Johnson Space Center Open House - NASA<https://www.nasa.gov/johnson/open-house/> Visitors will get a free, behind-the-scenes look at some of the agency's most historic accomplishments, and the exciting work happening right now as NASA returns to the Moon and travels to Mars. Entrance is not permitted prior to 9:00 a.m. and after 2:30 p.m. The center will close promptly at 3:00 p.m. Visitors can expect unique opportunities and experiences featuring: * International Space Station mobile exhibit with Moon rock collected during the Apollo missions * NASA astronauts * To-scale International Space Station astronaut training mockup * Full-size mockup NASA's Orion spacecraft * Full-size mockup of HALO, the Gateway lunar space station habitation module * Cosmic Conversation series featuring exciting topics and speakers Guests may also take advantage of an exciting opportunity to view an annular eclipse - also known as a "ring of fire" eclipse - of the Sun. Subject matter experts will be on hand to discuss the eclipse and free solar eclipse viewing glasses that will allow guests to view the eclipse safely will be provided. Space Center Houston's Annular Eclipse Celebration Come and witness the annular eclipse at its peak at 11:58 a.m. on Oct. 14, 2023. View the eclipse with the Houston Astronomical Society and enjoy daily activities on the lawn. Learn about the importance of eye safety and the use of telescopic solar filters. Attendees will receive complimentary eclipse glasses and can participate in hands-on activities at our stations.
