Exhibition Dates: January 10 – April 11, 2025 Location: Gensler Houston, 909 Fannin St, Unit 200, Houston, TX 77010 The Architecture of Culture (TAOC) is an exhibition showcasing works from the Guess Lawson Collection, highlighting the evolving nature of contemporary art and its enduring ties to activism and community engagement. Through a curated selection of works by multicultural and multinational artists, TAOC invites reflection on themes such as race, gender, and societal challenges. Key Events Schedule • February 6, 2025, 6:00–8:00 PM: Panel on “Purpose”, moderated by Harrison Guy, Co-Founder of Urban Souls Dance Company. • February 20, 2025, 6:00–8:00 PM: Panel on “Urban Dynamics and Change”, moderated by Peter Merwin, former Principal at Gensler. • March 6, 2025, 6:00–8:00 PM: Panel on “Lilith”, moderated by Vicki Meek. • March 20, 2025, 6:00–8:00 PM: Panel on “The Architecture of Culture”, moderated by Sarah Darro, Chief Curator at the Houston Center for Craft. • April 10, 2025, 6:00–8:00 PM: Closing Address by Camille Gallogly Bacon, Writer and Co-Editor-in-Chief of Jupiter Magazine. This exhibition includes works by renowned artists such as John Biggers, Hughie Lee-Smith, Joyce Scott, and Radcliffe Bailey, as well as contemporary artists including Abi Salami, Christopher Blay, Kaima Marie Akarue, and Romeo Robinson. Together, these pieces create a powerful and dynamic dialogue addressing identity, history, and activism. Presented in collaboration with Gensler, this exhibition underscores the intersection of art, architecture, and community.
