Our Mission - Girl Rising uses the power of storytelling to change the way the world values girls and their education.
Girl Rising is a U.S based non-profit currently working in 11 countries around the world. We are a team of international development professionals, journalists, documentary film-makers, and educators who through our original storytelling, advocacy, media campaigns, and educational tools, work to ignite change so that girls are free to go to school, stay in school, and pursue a future of their own choosing. The evidence is clear - educating girls and advancing their opportunities radically transforms families, communities, and entire nations, helping to end cycles of poverty, improve environmental conditions, and increase health, peace and prosperity.
Position Description & Qualifications
The primary responsibilities of the Development Manager are:
Process Management:
Donor Relationship Management:
• Developing and maintaining a comprehensive calendar of development-related events and deadlines
• Maintaining all proposals and reports in to ensure accuracy, completeness, and easy- access at all times for all foundation, corporate and individual fundraising
• Contributing to the external communications of Girl Rising to enhance the organization's profile among donors, partners, prospects and wider community email campaigns,
• Maintaining all donor records in Salesforce; Processing donor acknowledgements and correspondence to ensure timely recognition of gifts and pledges; running regular reports
• Creating and executing fundraising campaign infrastructure for online and direct mail fundraising
• Prospect research to identify individual, foundation, and organizational donors
• Preparing and drafting compelling, data driven grant applications for funding requests,
managing processes in coordination with the senior leadership team
• Managing all grant reporting requirements in coordination with the leadership team
Event Management:
• Support the planning and execution of fundraising and cultivation events
• Coordinate event logistics
• Collaborate with the Communications team to develop event invitations, save the dates
and all collateral
Skills & Competencies:
Qualified candidates will possess a passion for the mission of Girl Rising, along with:
• A Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university and a minimum of 4 years of related experience
• Excellent interpersonal skills and proven experience cultivating and stewarding donor relationships
• Keen attention to detail
• Understanding of current social media platforms and their use for donor engagement /
strategic messaging
• Proficiency in Salesforce, Microsoft Office and strong familiarity with email marketing,
web-based marketing tools and social media platforms.
• A positive attitude, strong teamwork ethic and the ability to take complete ownership of
responsibilities
• The ability to work under pressure and time constraints as well as to handle a number of
tasks simultaneously
• The ability to be strategic, creative and flexible in the planning and execution of goals
and strategies
• The ability to work well with people at all levels and to develop and maintain beneficial
relationships with colleagues, donors and community members
