What's a Post Graduate Year After High School Before College to Boost Academic Credentials and Life Skills?

Thinking your senior could use 1 year after 12th grade to enhance credentials or gain more experience in the world of his or her passions... if you have a student that you want to boost their educational or developmental or social skills (resume/activities, sports, GPA, test scores) to help with acceptances (and academic/social success once there) in the college they'd like to match, there is a Post Graduate year you can consider -- PG is available as an educational option at many boarding schools...also there are year off programs between high school and college to do international volunteering for example in various countries - learn a language, help build a school etc. some parents also gain an extra year (Kipp calls spending an extra year in a grade when needed a "gift of time") There are those who take a 9th or 10th grader and to do this seamlessly are putting him or her in a boarding school in the 9th grade (repeating the grade so they get time to adjust to the life and rigors of boarding schools and college later).  Interesting concept for those this would be a fit! Just google it !

And conversely there are colleges that accept students in the 12th grade to begin college early if your child is ready - as well as international high schools and colleges.. google..
