Dr. Shannon is a Full Professor of African American Literature, specializing in Dramatic Literature and Criticism at Howard University. She is one of the nation's leading scholars on the life and works of Pulitzer Prize winning playwright August Wilson. She is also Founder of the interdisciplinary-focused August Wilson Society at Howard University.
