present campus; and in front of the present campus on the Providence/Finnigan
Park side.
Suggested Attire:
Everyone is asked to come in casual attire that
emphasizes purple and white coloring and comfortable walking shoes. (PWHS
students will be selling "Wheatley Proud" tee shirts for those who
want them near the Gym entrance.)
The meal is being provided through the Catering
Division of the Harris County General Store owned by one of the 2017 WOF

Tony Sherman (1958 and 2012 Honoree) Art Raffle:
Well known artist Tony Sherman has put up one of his
art creations of Phillis Wheatley
herself
(valued at $2,000) for raffle at the 2017 WOF
Celebration as a means of raising funds, to complement Legacy Fund
contributions (described below), in support of student activities at PWHS. The raffle drawing will take place during the
Celebration, and some consolation prizes will be given out as well. Raffle tickets are offered at $5.00 each and
will be for sale on November 8 prior to the drawing. They may be obtained prior to November 8 from
various members of the WOF Committee.
Please contact either Tony (tony@shermanenterprises.net)
or EFW (efwalker@bcglobal.net) to purchase
raffle tickets desired prior to November 8.
Legacy Fund:
The yearly WOF Celebration is not a fundraiser;
however, the WOF Committee members understand the need that PWHS has for
instructional, student activity, and grounds maintenance support that is not covered in its
yearly budget. So, in 2013, the
Committee established a Legacy Fund to help provide support for some of these
needs. We urge you to consider making a
contribution to this fund on November 8.
There will be a committee member on duty to accept your contributions
onsite with an immediate receipt provided.
These contributions will transmit quickly to the Financial Manager for
PWHS where they will be processed in accord with HISD financial
procedures. All will be acknowledged in writing to your home or business address
and are tax deductible. Your support of
this effort, as well as the raffle described above, is appreciated by the
school's faculty, staff, and students.
Homecoming:
PWHS's Homecoming will also be celebrated the
week of November 8 with the Homecoming Parade and Game scheduled for Saturday,
November 11.
Hope you can Join us!
