Essential Duties Summary DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: Detailed Oriented. Problem-solving and decision making. Excellent communication skills, writing and oration. Strategic Planning. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Develops and implements an ongoing legislative strategic plan. Serves as liaison between the University and federal, state and local elected/appointed officials and other institutions/organizations. Attends legislative hearings, committee meetings, and briefings. Coordinates special projects and activities geared toward enhancing understanding of and fostering commitments to the University’s legislative funding priorities. Promotes positive relations with area schools and other organizations concerned about higher education for children through employee/staff volunteer involvement. Represents TSU in a leadership capacity on the national, state and local level of policy-making boards/committees, as well as industry organizations. Analyzes, interprets and explains legislative bills (state and federal) and prepares presentations. Conducts fact finding interviews and prepares narrative reports. Composes business letters, reports and documents. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
