Scholarship Operations Research DEADLINE Sept 6th - thanks efamily member Sam Denard for sharing!

Donna, INFORMS (www.informs.org) is an operations research professional organization that published the opportunity below in one of their recent newsletters. It might be of interest to your readers. ==================== We encourage you to nominate undergraduate students to participate in the MIF Undergraduate Workshop, an NSF-funded event supported by the Minority Issues Forum (MIF). The workshop will host a group of selected undergraduate students for a one-day event on Saturday, October 19. Additionally, workshop participants will attend the INFORMS Annual Meeting between October 20 and 23. Our goal is to promote diversity in STEM, and we are particularly interested in inviting undergraduate students from underrepresented minority groups as defined by the NSF-including women, African Americans, Hispanics, Native Americans, and persons with disabilities. This workshop aims to help these students explore Operations Research opportunities for their future careers or graduate studies. We are fortunate to have a list of speakers from academia and industry. We seek participants pursuing undergraduate degrees in engineering, computer science, mathematics, and other sciences who may benefit from this unique opportunity. Selected students will attend the in-person workshop, receive a complimentary registration for the Annual Meeting, and receive financial support to travel to Seattle to attend the INFORMS Annual Meeting. All workshop participants will be paired with mentors from the INFORMS community. Traveling support will be reimbursed after the students attend the INFORMS Annual Meeting. To apply, students need to submit an unofficial transcript, provide the email of a professor who will supply a nomination letter, and write a 500-word essay explaining their motivation to participate in the workshop. The application can be completed online using the following link. https://sites.google.com/view/mif-undegraduates/ The application deadline is September 6, 2024. ---------------------------
