The event will be held on the Calhoun side of the park next to the swimming pool entrance, 5225 Calhoun Rd., Houston, TX 77021. Learn how the original MacGregor Park Master Plan in 2016 and its refresh in 2021 provided a strong base for the current design phase and get a sneak peek of the new design concepts. The event will feature: Meet the MacGregor project team and your neighbors Opportunities to share input on design elements Speaking program and gift card giveaway at 3 PM Activities provided by local partner organizations Open swim at the MacGregor Pool – bring your swimsuits, towels, and sunscreen Music by DJ Texas Outlaw Free snacks, including snow cones and giveaways, while supplies last Interpretation services for Spanish speakers Free parking is available, but we also encourage you to bike, walk, stroll, roll, or take METRO bus or light rail to this event, on the following routes: METRORail Purple Line at MacGregor Park/MLK Jr. Stop METRO Bus Routes: 28 OST-Wayside; 29 Cullen/Hirsch; 80 MLK/Lockwood MacGregor Park Project Information The MacGregor Park Master Plan was initiated in 2016 under the direction of the Houston Parks and Recreation Department and refreshed in 2021 by the Houston Parks Board with a gift from the Kinder Foundation. Through over 1,200 community interactions, the project team heard what Houstonians want and need from MacGregor Park. Following this comprehensive and community-driven master plan process, Houston City Council approved the plan for renovations in December 2023. Houston Parks Board and the project partners are proceeding with design this year, and construction is estimated to begin in 2025. Fundraising is well underway to fund the $54 million project. The Kinder Foundation contributed a $27 million catalyst gift, providing initial momentum for the project.
