Are you interested in receiving up to $43,500 annually for two years of academic funding for your bachelor's or master's degree in an IT-related field?
Applications are now being accepted for the U.S. Department of State's Foreign Affairs Information Technology Fellowship 2025 cohort.
This is a two-year diversity fellowship program funded by the State Department that provides academic funding while preparing you to enter the Foreign Service as a Diplomatic Technology Officer. When you complete the fellowship and meet the Foreign Service entry requirements, you will receive an appointment as a DTO and launch an exciting career supporting diplomacy through technology around the world!
What Are the Benefits of the FAIT Fellowship?
As a FAIT Fellow, you will receive:
- Up to $43,500 annually (for two years) in academic funding for tuition, room and board, books, mandatory fees, and some travel expenses.
- Two summer internships (with stipends, housing, and travel allowances): a domestic internship in Washington, D.C. and an overseas internship at a U.S. embassy or consulate.
- Professional development and personalized mentoring throughout the program.
- An appointment as a Diplomatic Technology Officer upon successful completion of the FAIT Fellowship and the Foreign Service entry requirements.
Are You Eligible to Apply?
The FAIT Fellowship offers both undergraduate and graduate fellowships. To be eligible to apply for the 2025 cohort, you must be a U.S. citizen, hold a minimum cumulative 3.2 GPA on a 4.0 scale, and be on a timeline to graduate with either your IT-related bachelor's or master's degree in spring 2027. The undergraduate fellowship provides academic funding for the last two year's of your full-time bachelor's degree program. The graduate fellowship provides academic funding for a two-year, full-time master's degree program.

How to Apply
Applications are being accepted September 16, 2024, through January 21, 2025. Go to the Apply page of the FAIT Fellowship website to learn more about applying and to access the application portal.
The FAIT Fellowship program values varied backgrounds, including ethnic, racial, gender, and geographic diversity. Members of minority groups underrepresented in the Foreign Service, women, and individuals with financial need are encouraged to apply.
