150 to 350 new Fellows will be selected! 3 Years Fully Funded Graduate fellowship - thanks Efamily member Sam Denard for sharing!

Hello SciTechCONNECT Community,

The Department of War, through the Office of the Under Secretary for Research and Engineering and the military services, is opening applications for this year’s National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate (NDSEG) Fellowship Program: a premier opportunity for emerging scientists and engineers pursuing research that supports the national defense mission.

The NDSEG Fellowship is one of the Department’s most competitive graduate awards, designed to support U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, and U.S. dual citizens who intend to pursue a doctoral degree in science or engineering disciplines aligned to DoW research priorities and the Services’ Broad Agency Announcements.

Since its launch, the program has awarded over 4,400 fellowships, investing in researchers who are shaping breakthroughs across critical technology areas.

What the Fellowship Provides

  • A three-year, fully funded graduate fellowship
  • Support for baccalaureate students, master’s students, and early-stage PhD candidates
  • Flexibility to pursue a doctoral degree at any accredited U.S. institution
  • Alignment to DoW research and development needs, ensuring Fellows work on challenges that matter to the nation

150 to 350 new Fellows will be selected, forming a cohort of researchers driving innovation in priority areas, from advanced materials and autonomy to biotechnology, cyber, space, and beyond.

If you or someone in your network is preparing for graduate study and seeking meaningful research impact, this is a powerful opportunity to contribute to the future of national security science and technology.
