March Agenda: Celebrating Women’s Month, the 52nd NAACP Image Awards and featuring our ACT-SO ALUMNI!

Guest Presenters for the Friday, March 12, 2021 are NAACP Houston Branch ACT-SO Alumni:
 
  1. Ms. Nasiah Richard, a Financial Analyst at Dell Technologist is a 2020 graduate from UT, Austin with a Bachelors in Bus. Admin in Finance. She competed in the ACT-SO’s Entrepreneurship and Mathematics Categories. As the NAACP Houston Branch ACT-SO Gold Medalist from 2014-2016, Nasiah won the 2016 NAACP National ACT-SO Mathematics Gold Medal and the 2015 NAACP National ACT-SO Mathematics Silver Medal. Nasiah was awarded a NAACP National Education Scholarship from 2016-2019 and elected as the NAACP Houston Youth Council President for 3 terms.
 
  1. Ms. Jannah Collins, a freshman at UT, Austin and a 2020 graduate of Kinder HSPVA. Jannah competed in ACT-SO’s Filmmaking, Dance Contemporary and Poetry categories. As the NAACP Houston Branch ACT-SO Gold Medalist in Dance Contemporary for 2019, she danced in the NAACP National ACT-SO Awards Ceremony. In 2020, Jannah won the NAACP National ACT-SO Filmmaking Gold Medal and was also awarded a NAACP National Education Scholarship.
 
  1. Mr. Curtis Johnson III, is a Sophomore at Stephan F. Austin University and a 2019 graduate of Ridge Point HS. Locally, he competed in the ACT-SO’s Painting and Drawing categories. As the NAACP Houston Branch ACT-SO Gold Medalist in Painting in 2019 & 2020 and in Drawing in 2020, he was able to perform in the NAACP National ACT-SO Showcase and Convention Experiences. In 2020, Curtis was also commissioned to design a NAACP Youth and College Division Collection called “Power to the Youth”.
 
2021 ACT-SO Competition Information:
 
  1. 2021 NAACP Houston Branch ACT-SO Competition Online Registration: High School Students whom are planning on competing in the local 2021 Competitions must first register online using the QR Code or click on the link provided belowASAP.
 
 
Save the Dates for Future Group Enrichment Sessions and Deadlines:
Friday, March 19, 2021, 7 PM CST, Guest Presenters and Review of National ACT-SO Competition Documents
Friday, April 2, 2021, 7 PM Information Session and Deadline to turn in Competitor’s National ACT-SO Documents
 
The 52nd NAACP Image Awards:
Will air on Sat. March 27, 2021 on ViacomCBS networks
