| Dear Friends, As Houston recovers from the most recent severe winter storm in its history, that left millions without power and water for several days, I am so proud to share that the Emancipation Park Conservancy continues to find creative ways to stay connected, maintain partnerships and deliver meaningful resources to the surrounding Emancipation Park community. Working in partnership with CenterPoint Energy, Lucille’s 1913, and the Ivy Educational and Charitable Foundation of Houston Inc., the Conservancy collaborated with Council Member Carolyn Evans-Shabazz to distribute water and food to the most vulnerable in Houston’s District D needing assistance. The Conservancy has received so many HAND-WRITTEN thank you notes with sentiments of sincere appreciation, highlighting the meaningful impact that we continue to make during these difficult times. It’s easy for people to be critical and to say what is wrong, which makes it so encouraging and rewarding to receive notes of thanks from those who benefit from our programs and services, demonstrating that we are doing something right. That is why your support has never been so critical. You can help to perpetuate our work and our legacy through a one-time or monthly gift to our operating fund by clicking here. Thanks for your continued support! Wear a mask, stay safe, and protect the most venerable among us. Lucy Bremond, Executive Director Emancipation Park Conservancy

|
| Thank you for participating in our Black History Month celebration. The virtual campaign was very successful. #BlackHistoryEveryday is a national campaign via Emancipation Park Conservancy's digital platforms to celebrate African American excellence beyond Black History Month. In February, we highlighted Emancipation Park, the incredible strides of the Third Ward community (including partners and sponsors), and the various activities that happened throughout the month including an EPC board member, GertrudeJane Stone, interviewed on The Kelly Clarkson Show for refusing to move from her seat on a train ride in the 1950s. Our Did You Know? series, sponsored by Houston Airport System, highlighted over 25 African American pioneers from the surrounding Third Ward or Greater Houston communities that have made significant contributions to help shape American history, culture, and society. The campaign can be accessed on our Facebook and Instagram pages at your convenience. Photo Credit: Rev. Jack Yates and Family, MSS 281-0053, Houston Public Library, HMRC |
