It is designed to inspire,
motivate, and involve the following:
- 6th through 12th grade students accompanied by parents and friends. Many are often repeating participants from past DREME Science Literacy Foundation camps and including present camp participants
- Teachers from current and past camps as well as their fellow colleagues
- D.R.E.M.E. sponsors
- Houston and surrounding communitiesThe objectives are to:
- Provide STEM and information and innovative hands-on activities
- Provide STEM, management, and leadership career awareness and preparation
- Encourage further learning in STEM, management, and leadership fields
- Encourage STEM, management, and leadership interest for all youths, particularly, from groups that are under-represented in STEM fields
- Encourage parents to learn and participate in STEM, management, and leadership activities with their child and produce a bonding experience that will inspire them to recall, duplicate, and even expand activities to be performed at home.
- Encourage healthy eating to enhance energy, memory, and concentration.Presenters with interactive hands-on experiments/activities have included:
- Various Corporations, including NASA, GE Energy, Lockheed Martin, LyondellBasell, CenterPoint Energy, Boeing, Schlumberger, Ocean Star Offshore Oil Rig Museum and various others.
- Houston Museum of Natural Science – traveling Planetarium; and many others!Media: The D.R.E.M.E.
