Monday, Jan. 16 - 39th Annual MLK, Jr. Parade
10:00 a.m. Downtown Houston (starting at Minute Maid Park)
Come out to the celebratory parade and show your school spirit as UH students and alumni ride on the UH float. The parade will feature local school bands and community organizations.
Thursday, Jan. 19 - MLK Commemorative Celebration featuring Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner and the Good News Gospel Choir
4:00 p.m. Student Center Theater
The Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Celebration is an opportunity for the University of Houston community to memorialize and highlight civil rights leader Dr. King. This year’s program includes remarks from Mayor Sylvester Turner and selections from the Good News Gospel choir. A reception will immediately follow the program.

Please join us at the Houston Food Bank. Last year over 250 amazing Coogs volunteered at various sites throughout the city for this university wide event.
We invite faculty, staff, alumni and their families to join us at the Houston Food Bank from 7:30 a.m. – Noon, click here to register directly with the Food Bank. Volunteers as young as age six are welcome, so we encourage you and your family to join us and help represent UH. If you have questions about the UH Day of Service at the Houston Food Bank, please feel free to contact Susie Molina, Director of Community Relations at srmolina@uh.edu or 713-743-6106.
