Dr. Christine Voncile Mann Darden, the fourth mathematics genius Hidden Figure in the Margot Lee Shetterly book Hidden Figures, will be 18th Annual Scholarship Dinner keynote speaker:

Friday, April 28, 2017, 7:00pm,
Church of the Redeemer, Presbyterian
1423 Girard St., Northeast,
Washington, DC, 20017
$50/Adult; $25/Student.
For event details, please contact Kevin P. Moore, 202-258-4857, or Carl Payne, 301-949-8755.

Dr. Darden was not in the movie "Hidden Figures" because she came along about 20 years later, though of course she would see Hidden Figure Katherine Johnson (played by Taraji P. Henson in the movie) at AKA Sorority meetings, or see Johnson's daughters in school.

While attending Hampton University, Dr. Darden protested at lunch counters, being refused food, so she would just sit quietly and do her homework along with the other Black students. When the owner decided to close the restaurant, they marched in the streets, and most importantly, they registered voters, walking through black neighborhoods to get them prepared to vote in the November 1960 presidential election.
