Who You'll Work WithYou will be based in one of our US offices-preference on Atlanta and West Coast offices.
You will work with our Global Editorial Services (GES), a ~30-person team of editors and production staff and McKinsey's largest publishing group. GES works with authors to develop and publish distinctive content across an expanding array of print and digital platforms, including mckinsey.com and the McKinsey Insights app. Our end products include feature articles, white papers, blog posts, business-leader interviews, podcast and video transcripts, newsletters, and the "McKinsey on..." series of publications (McKinsey on Finance, McKinsey on Risk, etc.). These thought-leadership publications are read by a global audience of decision makers at leading companies and organizations.
What You'll DoYou will spend majority of your time working closely with GES editors and production staff to produce articles and publications on business topics, often on a specific industry sector (e.g., banking, high tech, energy) or function (e.g., strategy, marketing, operations).
Articles will vary in length, format, and target audience. The copy editor at GES is fluent in our group's production-related processes and resources and offers strong copyediting and proofreading support to enhance publishing efforts and what we call "Reach & Relevance initiatives."
In this role, you can expect to provide highly specialized editorial oversight for a large and diverse suite of editorial products, encompassing clientele-development papers, Insights articles, reports, industry publications, the McKinsey Quarterly, white papers, daily and weekly newsletters, podcasts, web products (including for social media), and a rapidly increasing volume and variety of ad hoc publishing projects.
You will support the copy chief in staying on top of a high-volume, occasionally unpredictable article pipeline, identify practice-publishing priorities and meet tight deadline requirements, and provide clear, cogent communication with GES, Quarterly, and McKinsey.com editors in support of an increasing volume of editorial projects.
You will keep up with new production skills as needed (content-management systems and processes, house-style updates, exposure to new forms of McKinsey Publishing content, embrace of digital formats, including social media, in-line linking, SEO optimization, providing taxonomies for online articles, etc.) and support continued optimization of all GES activities.
