COVID-19 Update Harris County

COVID-19 UPDATE

Cases and hospitalizations are the worst they have been in the course of this pandemic, with Texas Medical Center warning they may exceed ICU capacity. We strongly urge you to minimize non-essential in-person interactions at this time. Every unnecessary interaction you eliminate is one less chance to contract or spread the virus. Continue wearing a mask that covers the nose and mouth for essential activities in which social distancing may prove difficult.

Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo issued a new order that commercial entities (i.e. businesses) "must require, at a minimum, that all employees or visitors to the commercial entity’s business premises or other facilities wear face coverings." Additionally, Harris County introduced a color-coded threat level system to make clear the extent of community spread of coronavirus and the steps residents should take to protect themselves and lessen transmission.

If you need to get tested, Houston and Harris County are providing no-cost testing throughout the county. No symptoms are necessary to get tested.

Thank you for continuing to treat COVID-19 with the seriousness it deserves and for acting accordingly to stop the spread and protect our community.
