I did the online registration I had a little trouble but I found I forgot to scroll down on the first one which was none since I was not a first responder, etc. under none you have to click on it to scroll down to "retired" and the rest was easy to finish Please forward to others. ----- Forwarded Message ----- From: Russell, Jennifer (Commissioner Pct 1) Sent: Tuesday, January 26, 2021, 03:15:31 PM CST Subject: Harris County Vaccine Portal Good afternoon, Starting Tuesday, January 26, 2021- Harris County Public Health is launching a new COVID-19 Vaccination Portal for eligible residents. Information regarding the Harris County Vaccine Portal- · The portal will allow individuals to be placed on a waitlist and contacted once vaccines and appointments are available. · The waitlist will be available via the vaccine information link on www.ReadyHarris.org and https://vacstrac.hctx.net starting no later than Tuesday afternoon. · Eligible residents without internet access can also call (832) 927-8787 once the portal is live to be placed on the waitlist. · The “Smart Waitlist” system does not operate on a first come, first served basis. o Instead, registrants on the waitlist will be prioritized in accordance with state guidelines. · Currently, only individuals who fall under the DSHS Phase 1A and 1B category are eligible to receive the vaccine. · Individuals who do not fall under these categories can sign up to be placed on the waitlist, however, they will not likely be contacted until the State of Texas expands eligibility, likely not until the late Spring or Summer. Who is eligible for the vaccine? · Phase 1A: Frontline healthcare workers and residents at long-term care facilities. · Phase 1B: Persons 65+ or 16+ with at least one chronic medical condition, including pregnancy. · Harris County does not require proof of citizenship to register for the vaccine, nor will it be required at your appointment. I am eligible, why haven’t I been able to make an appointment yet? · Harris County has a limited supply of vaccines. Harris County Public Health is currently increasing the county’s capacity to distribute more of the vaccine, so that when more supply is available, we will be ready to distribute it. If I have a vaccine, does this mean I can stop wearing masks and distancing? · Current COVID-19 vaccines require two shots and the protectiveness of the vaccine -- which has a 95% efficacy rate -- does not set in until a week or two after your second shot. · Even with the arrival of a COVID-19 vaccine, HCPH encourages residents to stay home, cancel gatherings, wear a facemask, socially distance, and get tested. Kindly, Jennifer Russell Community Engagement Coordinator Commissioner Rodney Ellis Harris County Precinct One 346.286.1951 jennifer.russell@cp1.hctx.net
