“2nd Time Around Jewelry and Accessories”

You will not meet your jewelry at church or at the Gala, you will stand out because it is “one -of -a -kind”. 2nd Time Around Jewelry & Accessories is pre-owned jewelry, small clutch bags and bling bling items donated by individuals, organizations, and stores to help raise funds for several missions in Kenya.

Many communities in Kenya live in deprivation and have relied on donations of various products from people visiting the country or a organization will send items off and on, however, the people realize donated items are only for the moment and not always reliable. They have come to recognize the best help is self-help.  In this effort, we will train people to make various products to empower their community for change and some objects will include making essential oils, antiviral soap, and healthy items like protective organic bracelets to safeguard the community from mosquitoes that carry diseases, and other critters. These items may also be sold to help the community become self-sufficient.

In Embakasi South, one of the communities to benefit, has a population of 487,000 and are desperate for help to keep girls in school, but it is difficult.  Things we never think about not having, is a personal unmet need that impact young girls that live in communities where a decision to eat or spend money on such items is not open for discussion.  People making less than a dollar a day cannot afford the luxury of feminine products for the most part, the girls and women must use unthinkable remedies.  We received a proposal from one of the community organizations in Embakasi South; Women Economic Empowerment for Social Change (WEESC) stating the uncomfortable situation girls are subjected too, asked us to assist with purchasing sanitary napkin and soap-making machines.  These apparatuses would do more than improve their life, it would give them a reason to be enthusiastic and change behavior of the overall community. Ultimately, we will purchase 10 of each machine, which will cover 5 cities/areas Embakasi South (Nairobi), Kisumu, Kisii, Yala & Siaya which includes 8 programs. Machines and materials estimated cost $ 200,000.    In the meantime, the need for sanitation is paramount, therefore, we have added 10 Water Distillers and materials to convert unclean water into clean water and essential drinking water, which is very vital and as critical if not more than the other needs. Estimated cost $18,000.

Appropriately, we agreed to help raise funds to purchase these machines, that would be used to allow the women and girls to become self-sufficient and, in many ways improve the total community’s health. This product will be registered to sell, which will create jobs and opportunities for everyone, but also help the girls stay in school and continue their education.  Unfortunately, the fundraising has not gone great, but this is a new approach, with 2nd Time Around Jewelry & Accessories, a way to touch many people to get involved. one way or another.
