Vaccines age 12 and older - MD Anderson COVID-19 vaccine clinics open for patients’ loved ones 12 and older

MD Anderson COVID-19 vaccine clinics open for patients’ loved ones 12 and older

We have received enough vaccine supply to invite our patients' loved ones to receive the vaccine at MD Anderson. Anyone eligible for the vaccine can use the link below to add their name to our waitlist. As soon as vaccine appointments are available, loved ones will receive a link so that they can self-schedule a COVID-19 vaccine clinic appointment at an upcoming Wednesday or Saturday clinic.

MD Anderson has safely delivered over 60,000 vaccines to MD Anderson patients, employees, loved ones and community partners. This process has recently been expanded to include adolescents, aged 12-17, who are now eligible for the Pfizer vaccine.

Minors require a parent or adult guardian to accompany them to their vaccine appointment. If a parent or legal guardian is unable to accompany the minor, the minor must be accompanied by an adult and bring a consent form signed by their parent or adult guardian as well as insurance information, if available, with them to their vaccination appointment.

Here is the waitlist registration link to share with your loved one: COVID-19 Vaccine Request

Things to know about COVID-19 vaccinations
  • MD Anderson provides FDA-authorized COVID-19 vaccines, depending on the supply given by the state of Texas each week and in compliance with all state guidelines on vaccine administration.
  • Vaccines are delivered in the Texas Medical Center. Parking is free and immediately adjacent to the vaccine clinic.
  • If the vaccine requires two doses, the loved one or individual should receive both doses of the same vaccine at MD Anderson. The second dose is administered a minimum of 21 (Pfizer) or 28 (Moderna) days after the first dose. Your loved one will receive confirmation for their Dose 2 appointment after they receive Dose 1. Receiving both doses of the same vaccine within the recommended time frame is the best approach to achieve the greatest benefit from the two-dose vaccines.
  • If they have recently tested positive for COVID-19, they should not schedule a vaccine appointment until after their 10-day quarantine period. If they arrive at their vaccine appointment before they finish quarantine, the appointment will be rescheduled. People who have had COVID-19 infection can have natural immunity for up to 3 months and can wait to get the vaccine for 3 months after their infection.
  • People must delay vaccination for 3 months after treatment for symptomatic COVID-19 with monoclonal antibody therapy (i.e. bamlanivimab, casirivimab, or imdevimab), or convalescent plasma.
  • In rare cases, people with a history of allergic reactions to a vaccine or injected medication should proceed with caution or avoid vaccination.
