    City of Houston to celebrate the opening of its first combined Sunnyside Health and Multi-Service Center
    WHAT:
    Mayor Sylvester Turner will join the Houston Health Department, elected officials, and Sunnyside residents during an open house and mini-heath fair to mark the grand opening of the new state-of-the-art Sunnyside Health and Multi-Service Center. 

    The new Sunnyside Health and Multi-service Center is the first of its kind for the department with a large two-story indoor atrium connecting the health and multi-service areas.

    A large auditorium, conference rooms, and classrooms will be available for use by community and non-profit organizations. The site will also include a fitness room, a quarter-mile walking trail, exercise equipment, a community garden, and benches.

    The community and news media will get to tour the new facility, meet and greet staff members with partner agencies that will provide services, and learn more about the programs and services for area residents. 

    During the open house, representatives from various health department programs including Family Planning, Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) clinic, Harris County Area Agency on Aging (AAA) for seniors, and clinical services will answer questions about the services they provide.

Briefly, the way the program works is the applicant completes a form and if approved they get their house insulated for free in which CenterPoint pays my company Building Specialties, Inc. to insulate the house if they qualify based on their income and the zip code they live in. The CenterPoint Energy Hard-to-Reach Standard Offer Program (HTR) was developed to provide incentives to achieve cost-effective reduction in peak demand on the electric grid for consumers with an annual household income at or below 200% of federal poverty guidelines. To qualify for free insulation of your house the income should be less than: $27,188 for a family of 1 $36,620 for a family of 2 $46,060 for a family of 3 $55,500 for a family of 4 $64,970 for a family of 5 $74,380 for a family of 6 This a way and means for Building Specialties, Inc. to better serve society, help low-income homeowners, and home occupants and senior citizens, I have decided to participate in the program to help the greater Houston community.
