Rodeo Scholarships and Volunteering

The purpose of this committee is to promote the Show in the African-American community through awareness and participation while highlighting the pioneer and Western heritage of black individuals in Houston and throughout the state. Members’ efforts help provide funds for college scholarships while celebrating Black Heritage Day annually on the grounds during the Show. 2023 Rodeo Run Hoopla Team Run for a cause! Proceeds from the event benefit the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™. Rodeo Run will be held Saturday, Feb. 25, 2023. The run will precede the Downtown Rodeo Parade and will kick off with the wheelchair race, followed by the 5K and 10K elite, 10K timed and 5K timed events. Want to Cheer on the Rodeo Run participants! The Black Heritage Committee Hoopla Team NEEDS YOU!!! Dress up in your favorite Costume or Onesie, grab your posters and come out to cheer on the participants! Learn about the Show and what it means to volunteer for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. All first-year volunteers are encouraged to attend. Veteran volunteers are welcome, too! And there is an opportunity for you to visit with your fellow Show volunteers immediately after each session. The Rookie Boot Camp program will be the same each day so that you can choose the most convenient date. We look forward to seeing you at one of the performances - no registration is required!
