Volunteer Activities
Volunteer activities will include planting 5 gallon and larger sized fruit trees and native Super Tree seedlings. This includes digging holes up to 2 feet deep, adding a Mycorrhizal fungi amendment to the soil, and topping the newly planted tree with mulch. Volunteers can expect to plant about 5 trees per person.
Volunteers should arrive at 8:30 am for check in. There will be a tree planting demonstration at 9 am and the planting will continue until noon.
Houston Wilderness will provide a limited number of shovels and gloves to use, we ask that volunteers bring their own shovels and gloves, if they have them. Following our ongoing COVID protocols, we recommend volunteers bring their own water and sunscreen. Closed toed shoes are required. A full explanation of COVID protocols and other information on the HSC TREES program can be found here.
