Mission: To establish an advisory council to engage and empower the next generation of business, civic, and community leaders, and provide them with a platform to voice their ideas and opinions for the advancement of our communities, specifically Houston City Council District D.



Vision: Building the pipeline of diverse leadership within District D for young leaders who want to make a difference in their community.

About:
 District D NEXT GENeration Advisory Council is a leadership development program comprised of 15 committed young leaders who either live, work, or have close ties to Houston City Council District D. These young leaders are selected to have input in improving the quality of life with the District, while acting as ambassadors and leaders for service in the community.

The Advisory Council will launch in April 2017 in Houston, TX. Members will meet regularly to discuss issues of importance to the District, including economic development, public policy initiatives, housing, youth civic engagement, and more. They will create action plans and utilize their resources to effectuate sustainable and positive change. Through the advisory council, members will have access to elected leaders, public officials, and key community stakeholders.

Advisory Council members are those who:
  • Live, work, or have close ties to Houston City Council District D
  • Take initiative in coordinating activities and projects
  • Are accountable for a project's success
  • Can organize a project from start to finish
  • Inspires other young leaders to action
  • Communicates clearly
