Unity of Houston, a large progressive church, is seeking an Accounting Manager with experience in Database Management. The position requires experience in managing finances, accounting, budgeting, reporting, and database management. The candidate must have strong analytical skills, interpersonal, and communication skills.
We are seeking a self-motivated individual that is a strategic thinker, has demonstrated integrity, high work ethic, and professionalism. Experience in non-profit accounting preferred. CPA preferred but not required.
FINANCE SUMMARY:
The Accounting Manager is responsible for all areas of finances in a timely and accurate manner, according to accounting principles, practices, and procedures, in order to report to Executive Management and Board of Directors to help with financial decisions and planning.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Contributions:
- Manage policies and procedures for money counters
- Maintain contribution/attendance weekly spreadsheets
- Enter and maintain pledges
- Send contribution statements electronically/mail accordingly when scheduled
Accounts Payable:
- Review accounts payable edit for accuracy
- Manage employee credit cards, receipts, entries, and payments
- Maintain files for all contracts and agreements
- Maintain Sam's Club and Costco employee cards
Payroll/Benefits:
- Payroll maintenance in software and review payroll edits after entry
- Maintain employee files
- Coordinate annual employee benefits
- Assist Executive Director with personnel policies
- Pay Payroll taxes and 941 reporting
- Worker's Comp annual audit
General Ledger:
- Establish and oversee all financial accounting procedures & reports
- Manage all church financial systems
- Prepare monthly financial statements and present at monthly Board of Directors meetings
- Prepare & enter annual budget and forecasting
- Attend and present reports to the finance and budget committee
- Direct and assist auditors
- Bookstore deposit entries
- Manage cash account balances and reconcile all accounts
- Finalize all journal entries, enter and finalize all non-check & adjusting entries
- Oversee the church's "Easy give" and "Website" contribution programs
- Maintain the church assets accumulated depreciation schedules
DATABASE MANAGEMENT:
The Membership Manager is responsible for maintaining accurate and timely membership, volunteer and attendance records. The Membership Manager works alongside all departments to ensure they have the tools for reporting and sending emails out in a successful manner. This includes any problem solving and solutions to manage lists and good management of time.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Set membership functions to entries
- Lead any mass mail outs for all departments
- Manage Constant Contact emails congruently with church software
- Update membership and volunteer records
- Prepare reports as needed for departments
OTHER DUTIES:
- Direct financial assistant and volunteers in finances and/or membership tasks
- Coordinate Building insurance annually
- Assist with negotiations for office equipment leases/purchases
- Work with Executive management to ensure church management systems, E- Giving and EZ Give programs are working successfully and kept current with the times. Ensure staff/volunteers are trained to use the programs to their advantage.
- Perform all other duties as required by the Executive Director
