HARRIS COUNTY CLERK IS THE NEW MEMBERSHIP CHAIR
FOR WOMEN PROFESSIONALS IN GOVERNMENT

(HOUSTON, TX) – Harris County Clerk Teneshia Hudspeth is the new Membership Chair for Women Professionals in Government (WPG). She was sworn in at the WPG Summer Social by City of Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner.

“I’m honored to form part of WPG and I’m looking forward to serving as membership chair of this fine organization,” said Clerk Hudspeth. “I’ll work hard to attract more members so that we can grow and continue to have an outlet that helps empower women in government positions.”

New WPG President Jamila Lloyd is thrilled to welcome a longtime friend to the organization. “I’m so excited to have the Honorable Teneshia Hudspeth as an officer in WPG and look forward to collaborating and offering support with all her goals,” said Lloyd.

WPG was founded in 1981 by Mary Dipboye a graduate of the University of Houston with a Master’s Degree in Public Administration. This non-profit organization offers networking opportunities that provide knowledge, skills, and support for career growth.

“I’m a big supporter of women in leadership and have been mentoring youth to never stop dreaming big,” added Hudspeth. “I’m happy to say, that I’ve already recruited several Harris County Clerk staff members and look forward to watching them and other new members grow professionally.”

Monthly meetings usually take place at a local area restaurant for lunch, networking, and to hear from guest speakers in leadership roles. The meetings are open to women and men who work at all levels of government.

WPG provides two scholarship opportunities annually to young women pursuing degrees in government and public policy.  In addition to the scholarships, WPG provides grant funding to other charities serving women and/or children in Harris County.

Congratulations to Clerk Hudspeth and all the 2021-2022 WPG officers.
