Dear Friend, First, thank you for supporting the work of the National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC) through your support as a loyal friend. Second, I have an exciting opportunity to share with you! We are close to completing the design of the 2022 Member calendar, which is packed with images of some of the most captivating and thought-provoking objects in our collection—and we want YOU to help us select the cover! We’ve narrowed it down to three images, and your valuable input will help decide which one to feature. Please vote now for your favorite image: Farm Security Administration Borrower, Vicinity of Frederiksted, St. Croix, Virgin Islands, 1941.
Cab Calloway and his band in a sleeper car, 1933.
Plywood panel mural from Resurrection City, 1968.
Don’t miss this opportunity to make your voice heard before the 2022 calendar goes to press! Inside the calendar, you’ll see compelling images and discover untold stories that remind each of us of the resiliency, diversity, and vibrancy of the African American experience. From showcasing some of the remarkable men and women on whose shoulders we now stand to spotlighting significant moments in recent history, the calendar is designed to inform, inspire, and amplify the chorus of essential stories about African American life, history, and culture. It’s also one of the ways we can say thank you for the year-round support of our dedicated Members. So, cast your vote now to help us decide on the cover. We’ll announce the winning image when the votes are tallied. And don’t forget to reserve your calendar if you haven’t done so already! All the best, Adrienne Brooks Director of Advancement |
