It is with regret that I must inform you of the unexpected death this week of long-time
Fifth Ward/Houston resident and 1962 Phillis Wheatley HS graduate Bernadette Presley.
She was the mother of 1981 Wheatley graduate Craig Presley, who owns and operates
the Nickel Sandwich Grill on Lyons Ave at Lockwood; the sister of Dr. Y. Jayne McCullough
(1969 Wheatley graduate); and my friend (as a 1961 Wheatley graduate) since childhood. Please remember her, her family, and our entire Wheatley family in your prayers.
Funeral services will be held next Tuesday (Feb 22) at 10:00 am at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church (4000 Sumpter St., Houston 77020) under the direction of the
Rev. Rodney Armstrong, S.S.J. . Viewing will take place from 8:00 am to 9:30 am
prior to the funeral mass (which is expected to last approximately one hour). Please join
this celebration of Bernadette's life if you can. Thank you.
