Dusty Baker Makes History
With tonight’s win over the Seattle Mariners, Astros Manager Dusty Baker became the 12th manager and first African-American manager in MLB history to reach 2,000 career wins!

Currently, all 10 eligible managers to reach the 2,000-win mark are in the Hall of Fame.

Named the Astros manager in January 2020, he has led the team to two ALCS appearances and a World Series appearance. Baker has a combined 17-12 record in the past two postseasons, giving the Astros more playoff wins in that span than any other AL club. Baker’s .586 postseason winning percentage as Astros manager is the best in franchise history.

Baker made his managerial debut with the Giants in 1993, amassing 840 wins and a 2002 National League pennant in 10 seasons with the club. Last season, Baker became the first manager in MLB history to win a division title with five different clubs when the Astros clinched the AL West. He previously won division titles with the Giants, Cubs, Reds, and Nationals. Baker is also one of nine managers in history to win pennants in both the AL and NL.

Baker is a three-time BBWAA Manager of the Year, and two-time Baseball American Manager of the Year.
